Action verbs for kids

Verbs are especially important because they help children communicate about events in the world by combining words into sentences.

An action verb is a verb that expresses something that a person, animal, object, or process in nature (such as a storm) can do rather than expressing a state of being.

Action verbs are needed in learning objectives so that students can demonstrate their learning and we can measure the outcomes. If objectives are too general, students don’t know what it is that they are supposed to be able to do.

Physical activities are a great way to teach Action Verbs. Children love to move about, and doing and including actions is such great way to learn both for native and second language students. Games can include, Simon Says, Charades, Guess What, as well as Action songs
